Vets Highway MVA with Car into High Voltage Transformer

On Sunday September 7th at 6:28 pm Bohemia responded to an MVA on Veterans Highway at Johnson Avenue. Chief Richard Andersen was the Incident Commander and Assistant Chief Sterling Haynes was in charge of Operations. Rescue 8, Engine 1 and Truck 4 responded along with Fire Police. MVA Car into Kenwood Drive Home

On Wednesday August 27th at 9:58pm, the Bohemia Fire Department was toned out for a MVA. Upon arrival, Chief Richard Andersen found that a car had lost control caused a parked truck to partially imbedded into a home on Kenwood Drive. Thomas Gorman Named FASNY Firefighter of the Year for 2014

The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) has named Thomas J. Gorman, a member of the Bohemia Fire Department, the FASNY 2014 Firefighter of the Year. The award will be presented to Gorman at FASNY’s annual convention in Albany.

Truck Strikes Electrical Wires Downing Pole and Power

A moving van struck electrical wires over Greenbrier Drive in Bohemia on August 19th at 9:55 am, causing power loss to several units at a nearby apartment complex. The incident was under the command of Chief Richard Andersen with Engine 1 and Fire Police on scene. Although the lines were energized, the driver was able to escape the vehicle safely.
